“Patriotism” Scholarship Program 2025-2026 School Year
- DEADLINE for scholarship applications is Friday, April 17, 2026, 5:00 p.m. (No exceptions).

- Refer to application process below for a list of the supporting documents needed (i.e., reference forms, evidence of GPA, etc.) Incomplete applications will not be considered.

- Type or print legibly. Illegible applications will be returned to you.
- You will be notified by mail in May regarding the status of your application.
- Three $1000.00 scholarships will be awarded by May 31, 2026 and made payable to the accredited post-secondary institution the student will be attending
NOTE:
Scholarship funds will be awarded to the student upon evidence of registration in an accredited post-secondary institution.
Purpose:
To provide scholarships to deserving Muskego high school graduating seniors interested in or intending to pursue post-high school course of study at either college/university or other post-secondary educational institution.
Award Components:
Multiple $1000 scholarships awarded to the students selected by the American Legion / American Legion Auxiliary Post 356 Scholarship Committee.
Criteria:
- Must be a United States citizen.
- Must be graduating from Muskego High School
- Must be a son, stepson, grandson, great grandson, daughter, stepdaughter, granddaughter or great granddaughter of a current or previous member of a branch of United States Military including the United States Coast Guard. **Identify the relationship and branch of service in your essay on Patriotism. **
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (or class ranking in top 15%) and submit transcript of credits.
Application Process: Applicant must submit the following items:
- Completed application form (If handwritten, please print legibly.)
- Letter of application addressed to the Scholarship Committee. The letter should contain a brief explanation of career goals and biographical (background) information.
- One (1) letter of recommendation from unrelated adult concerning candidate’s accomplishments, attitude, personality, leadership, integrity, moral character, ambition, intelligence, etc.
- 250 to 500-word personal essay on what patriotism means to you and how you plan on being a good citizen. Also include an event in history that changed the United States.
- A list of volunteering or projects that have had a positive impact on the school or community.
- Must submit extracurricular activities and/or work experience.
- Must provide an acceptance letter from a school or confirmation of enrollment.
- Must provide ACT or SAT Score (Composite).
- An official and recent high school transcript with cumulative grade point average and a class standing/rank.
Deadline for the application is Friday, April 17, 2026. Applications postmarked after this date will not be considered.
